Where, How & When: Your Go-to Spring Hair Guide

We can feel it in the air—spring is almost here! The one thing we love more than a fresh hair cut (or color) is a full agenda—filled with outdoor concerts, farmer’s markets and shopping days—and springtime is the best time to make it happen. We sat down with our stylist Jessica to learn more about what’s trending for spring, and what’s on our agendas this season.

Our Favorite Spring Trends

Jessica has been noticing a lot of shorter cuts (like bobs and lobs), lived-in color, textured hair and beachy waves. For makeup, she’s loving a soft, dewy look—and a pop of lip color for an added touch.

The Products We Can’t Live Without

To give hair that coveted texture and lived-in look to match, we’ve got Aveda Texture Tonic front and center on our vanities. It’s a sea salt and sugar spray that provides hold without the crunch, and effortless vibes all around. (In other words, it’s day-at-the-beach hair in a bottle.) Use before you blow dry, wait until after—or both!

For shorter styles (looking at you, freshly cut bobs and lobs), Jessica recommends top-rated Phomollient. It creates weightless body and volume on fine to medium hair, all while adding a touch of shine. She also recommends a spritz of Volumizing Tonic for added volume, and finish off your look with Air Control (our tried-and-true, never-fail hair spray).

What’s In Our Calendars This Spring

Like we said, spring wouldn’t be complete without a full calendar. Ahead, we’re talking all about our favorite upcoming activities, and how we’re styling our hair and makeup for them.

MADISON CRAFT BEER WEEK: MAY 4-13

This 10-day festival celebrates craft beer and the community that loves to make (and drink!) it.

Hair: Lived-in beachy curls

Makeup: A smokey eye, winged liner and contouring—with a bold, berry lip to match

NATURE WALKS IN THE NATURE CONSERVANCY

For those weekends we need a breath of fresh air, with friends and family in tow.

Hair: An easy, effortless braid to keep hair away, or a half-up bun

Makeup: Keep it simple! Winged liner, a glowy face and a pink lip

BLOOM: AN EVENT FOR NEW & EXPECTING MOMS: APRIL 12

New and expecting moms alike, stop by and see us at our booth at Bloom.

Hair: A high pony

Makeup: Go bare! (We’ll do your makeup at the event.)

SHOPPING TRIPS AT HILLDALE MALL

Because we can’t resist a new sundress (or two).

Hair: A high bun (between dressing rooms and bargain hunting, keep those flyaways in check).

Makeup: Simple makeup, but with a bold lip to ensure you’re always selfie-ready.

Jessica’s #1 Tip

A light hairspray (such as Air Control) can be used as a makeup setting spray if you’re in a pinch—she swears by this! Of course—it’s great for your hair, too—it adds texture and movement to your hair, without being sticky or stiff.
